Founded in 2009, the Mr. Davids Challenge fills the gaps within our communities, providing awareness of critical community needs and providing financial support to organizations, individuals, and initiatives that help improve our neighborhoods and empower the people within it. Since then, we've become the Mr. Davids Foundation, a registered non-profit organization who works to improve the communities where Mr. Davids Flooring employees live and work. We do this through raising awareness and contributing financial support to critical community-building activities. This year, we hope to raise $100,000 for our community partners to establish critical community resources that benefit the landscape of our local community. We work hard all year long at the Mr. Davids Foundation to ensure costs are kept low for our annual Challenge and rely heavily on our community sponsors to help us achieve these goals through donations and sponsorship. Our event is for the community, by the community.
About the Foundation
Since its inception, Mr. Davids Flooring International has had a long philanthropic history within the local community. The company's interest to establish the Mr. Davids Foundation began in 2014, after having five successful Mr. Davids 50K Bike Challenges.
In 2015, the Foundation organized formally and in 2016, Mr. Davids Foundation received its 501(c)(3) designation as a nonprofit charitable organization.
Currently, the annual Mr. Davids Challenge is the Foundation's sole fundraising event, raising over $750,000 for community initiatives since 2009.
About the Challenge
In October 2009, 36 riders and dozens of volunteers showed up for a loosely-organized 50K bike ride in St. Charles, IL to raise money for charity. From this fun and exhilarating morning, grew interest and support to establish an annual community-building event that would become the Mr. Davids Challenge.
In 2014, the Challenge added a family-friendly 5K walk/run and more than doubled its participants, further increasing its community contributions and impact.
In 2015, the newly-established Foundation moved the Challenge from St. Charles, IL to Mr. Davids headquarters in Itasca, IL, hoping to embrace more community opportunity and support.
