11th Annual mr. davids challenge

august 24th, 2019

In October 2009, 36 riders and dozens of volunteers showed up for a loosely-organized 50K bike ride in St. Charles, IL to raise money for charity. From this fun and exhilarating morning, grew interest and support to establish an annual community-building event that would become the Mr. Davids Challenge.

In 2014, the Challenge added a family-friendly 5K walk/run and more than doubled its participants, further increasing its community contributions and impact. In 2015, the newly-established Foundation moved the Challenge from St. Charles, IL to Mr. Davids headquarters in Itasca, hoping to embrace more community opportunity and support.

The Mr. Davids Challenge consists of a non-competitive 29K bike ride and a family-friendly 5K run/walk. The Challenge brings community members, organizations, volunteers and passionate participants together to help support local, community-enrichment initiatives.

Now in its 11th year, the Mr. Davids Challenge has transformed its local communities by raising funds and awareness for resources that enrich the lives of our neighbors, friends and co-workers!  Backed by hundreds of previous participants, sponsors (both local and national) and volunteers, the Mr. Davids Challenge features a 5K run/walk, as well as a non-competitive 29K bike ride.   This fun-filled Saturday morning will raise money to enable our community to have major building blocks to create a better quality of life of all those we love.  Sure, there will be a Challenge in completing the event or volunteering to wake up extra early on a Saturday to create an awesome event for all those eager participants, but the Change will occur afterwards - for yourself and for all those around you!

This year's Community Partner is AMITA Behavioral Health Hospital, Hoffman Estates, the only mental health hospital in the State of Illinois.  This year's Partner is selected based on the incredible need for mental health services in the State of Illinois - better outcomes will be achieved for all those receiving care at this very special place of healing through the addition of transitional housing which will serve to continue the care of the patient and transition them to a more independent life.  Please click here to read more about this unique endeavor you will be supporting through your participation in this year's Challenge.
